CAn someone tell me if I had just my operating system (windows 2000) on my master driver and was to install/copy over all my files and aapllications etc to my slave drive, should everything work as normal. I am finding I am getting numerous error messages regarding misssing files etc.

Any comments welcome.

Usally the best way to do this is to find some software that'll boot you're computer up then copy it. Most drive corps have some sort of free software that will do this.

You would need to...

Certainly possible, but should be done with the help of special programs such as Acronis Partition Expert, which allows you to clone the drive's contents onto another one. The main thing is that if it was a C: drive before, it must also be a the C: drive on the other HDD. This will allow all installed programs and in fact eveything to work fine beacuse some hold references to files on C:..... . I have done it this way and all is good.

Do you actually mean have the master and slave drive as C: How does this work? and what happens when you want to save something, where would it be saved? Am I getting the wrong end of the stick here?

If i am hearing you right, i believe you cannot do this in the windows environment. Your trying to copy all files and folders from C: and paste onto the D: drive. But the problem is you cant copy a file which is in use by windows. Therefore use partition magic or other software. I am not a real dos man, but i think you can copy paste enitre directories in there..

What I mean is that after you copy the contents from the original HDD (if it's C: ) to another and then boot from that one, you should set it to be C: as well. As I have mentioned that will prevent problems that you would otherwise come across.
