Installing OS

Just abit of advice really. As im still waiting for all my upgraded parts to arrive. I was wondering if it would do any harm installing windows 7 on my new HDD (which has arrived) with my old computer to save time once all the new stuff is here.

Or would people advise against this?

If you are upgrading the motherboard and processor-then you should wait-cause if you don't -you will have to re-install it again and then you run into problems with windows license rules. If you are upgrading graphics card-then no need to wait.

I would advise against it, the hardware is different, and it could corrupt windows! i would do it when on your new rig to be safe!!, plus when you install in your old one the drivers and windows will all be to do with the old one, and that could (might) slow down and damage the introduction of new hardware into the OS.
I do not believe it will work either, the booting thing might not work (not sure about this)

Then you definately need to wait. Doesn't make any sense to install it on a different machine.

If you had the new motherboard already, you could. But there is no sense in iinstalling windows to your old motherboard, you would have to reinstall it once you got the new motheboard hooked up anyway.
