Installing programs in a non-default directory? Please help, really quick question!

Ok, most of my programs are installed in the standard C:\Program Files directory. However, I'm running out of space on my C: drive, and I was wondering: Would it cause any problems to just install programs in another directory, on another drive? Like in an E:\Program Files directory?

Thanks!

It's absolutely fine to do that, as Windows always stores an address in it's registry, which means that you could even install your programs to a USB or SD card and they'd still work (on your PC only).

That is the way I run my games and other programs. I have two 160GB hard drives not in RAID configuration which will look similar to what you have. here is a step by step that might help you out.

- I make a folder on the D: drive (extra hard drive) called "Programs"
- When I want to install a program, say itunes, I will make an itunes folder inside of the programs folder.
- When you install the program just hit "browse" and select that folder that you made for that program, and the program will install there. Then you can just create a short cut or whatever you want.

did you get that? any other question just throw them up here.
