installing the sims2

Hello! I'm new here. I'm trying to instal the sims 2 onto my laptop and am having a bit of difficulty. I put in the first cd and thats grand, then am prompted to put in disc2. I do this but nothing happens, no error message or anything.

I have a dell inspiron 6000, purchased in december. I thought at first it was the game's problem, but today I successfully installed it onto my pc. It also a dell, we got it in 2004. Any ideas??? :confused:

Yes i click ok. Then, the cd drive makes noise as tho its loading, then it just goes quiet, and the light on the drive goes off. Nothing happens....
 
Is the disc readable? Can you actually drag the contents to your HD? That'll determine if your optical can read the entire disc or not.
 
I havent got the game with me at the moment, so I can't try and see if it is readable. But it worked no problems on my pc...
