Installing two XPs on the same hard drive

I was wondering if you can help me out with this issue. I've got a 300GB HD that i want split into two OS's: one with internet, my games, my music, and all that jazz; the other with my all my digital audio workstation applications and such. Many music composers use PCs that don't access the net because that can really mess with important applications (especially when little sister is frequently on myspace).

Is this a practical method of doing what i want? Is this called separating by partition? Can files still be exchanged between the partitions?

Thanx!

Yes you can create two separate partitions, and when you boot up it will have two different choices as to what OS you boot from.

The best way to do this is to create a separate partition when installing XP for the first time, that way you dont have to worry about data loss or buying a partitioning app like Norton Partition Magic.

With any NT based OS, you shouldn't even need to make partitions or anything. I prefer making partitions, but it's not necessary.
