Installing Ubuntu, help please!

i have a ubuntu live cd too and when i restart my computer it never deteccts the cd and it starts windowes up i did change it to start from cd then hdd i dun got floppy and now i dont think i have the cd but i dont want to wast my last cd unless i can get a 200% correct chance of it working somone help me
 
wait did you just trasfer the iso image over to the cd or did you use a program to burn the iso files to the cd
