I have a windows 98 SE disk that is not bootable and it needs DOS to run. and Of course I have XP and It's emulated DOS is not good enough for it.
It says to create a directory called windows. so i did that on a separate partition. then make more directories. That went fine:) . Then i copied what it said to the right directory and then said to run setup. An error appears that sais you cant install under this form of windows. that being XP

get a windows boot disk, set your bios to run it from start up. Load your boot disk and use it to setup access to your cd drive. Then put in your Win 98 SE cd and go to the cd drive that the boot disk setup for you and then type setup.exe ... that should start the windows 98 installation and go from there..

it will only let you install under a version of windows that is older than 98.

format a disk under windows xp and set copy boot files. this should let you install windows 98 usintg this disk... however i dont know if there are issues when using an xp boot disk
