All you need to do is install windows with the SP 1 and then go to www.microsoft.com and download and install SP 2 and youll be all set.

And no you wont need floppys to install windows that would take a while cause floppys dont hold that much data and XP is or 1 gig or more.

To download and save the full 266mb updated SP2 to a folder in case you have a need to reinstall XP later you can download it full from http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Windows-XP-SP2-RTM.shtml
This will not only save time at the Windows update link where you can only install SP2 but save it to a designated folder for later installation. To install XP you first enter the bios setup to change the first boot device to cd rom if you don't have the boot menu option by pressing the F8 key to select the bot device there. During the initial phases with the installer before the setup files are fully copied to your hard drive you have the option to manually reduce the size of the primary partition by entering a lower number before pressing the enter key once the hard drive is detected and you are asked if this is where you want XP installed to. That would be done for either creating a second storage partition later with the Disk Management utility or reserving for a possible dual OS drive like adding Linux to the remaining portion still unformatted. The default installation will create only one large single primary partition over the entire drive. There is a set of 6 floppies you can make up in the event the system lacks a cd drive to start the installation manually. But these days how many do you know without a cd drive let alone cd and dvd burners?
