Installing XP on my Laptop

I had Vista but I erased my hard drive I have no Vista Disk. My Laptop is a Gateway I also have a desktop also a gateway I have the OS XP when I load that disk in my Laptop it starts to run I get to the Set-up Screen press enter, I get the Licensing agreement I accept, then I get a sceen that shows existing partitions on this computer press C to create press D to delete then on the bottom it says Uknown disk- there is no disk in this drive. I press enter than I get a blue screen that say A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down etc.

The drivers for your HDD are causing problems most likely. If you go into BIOS see if you can change your HDD controller to a different setting. I assume you're using a SATA HDD?
