Installing XP on top of XP

I recently came across a problem I wasn't able to solve without a fresh install of XP. Not a big deal in itself, but I'm curious about one thing. The subfolders under Documents and settings have gotten a bit wierd, a mix of old and new folders apparently. They are as follows;

- Administrator
- All users
- All users.WINDOWS
- Default user
- Default user.WINDOWS
- Local service
- Local service.NT-AUTHORITY
- Networkservice
- Networkservice.NT-AUTHORITY
- "My name"
- "My name"."COMPUTER NAME"

Quite a mix of folders. So my question is simply this; which one(s) is safe to delete?
 
Im not sure. I will say one thing though. If i do a fresh install ive always done a low level format. lots of freebies out there. the manufacture has a wipe like new for the hd. funny things happen and same thing is there as before. ive always wiped one time and be done with it.

make sure you have backup profiles with admin rights. ive had corrupted profiles before. not in years though. ive got plenty of backups (back doors).
 
You actually didn't do a fresh install of windows. What you did was install a copy alongside the original one. You installed XP on available hard drive space instead of deleting the existing partition then repartition, format and then install. You need to do fresh install to get things back in order.
 
Thx for replying :) I know this isn't a fresh install. I usually do a complete format with my yearly cleanup. Only problem is I just have too much stuff to on my HD now to have a backup of it all as I do the format.
 
get a 2nd hd. there cheap enough. 80gig for me works fine. i have a 250 and not even close. its for pictures and family movies. doing it once a year is hard to believe for a wipe. external works well. (usb). wipe it clean. if your hanging out downstairs turn off script controls. oh well, thats another subject.
