Installing XP over Vista.

Long story short:

My Laptop came with Vista. Vista recognizes my SATA drive in AHCI mode, and if I change it to IDE, then it won't boot.

I attempted to install XP on my laptop in AHCI mode, but as it cannot recognize SATA drives, it did the BSOD.

So, I changed the HDD to IDE mode, and hey presto! XP installed! And so now I'm over the moon, but now it won't boot in IDE mode (obviously because my HDD is SATA). So I change it back to AHCI and I see the XP screen boot up for just a second, it freezes, and I get the BSOD again.

So now I am stuck with no OS. What do I do? What drivers can I slipstream to my XP disc? I can't find my specific hard drive drivers, and so now I am stuck, and it's a brand new laptop!

I hate Vista!

Help please before I die... :(

Try getting a generic driver for your HDD and slipstream it with a copy of XP using nLite. Then burn the slipstreamed copy of XP to a CD. If you don't have any service packs with your copy of XP, use nLite to add them to the installation - it saves future time. :)
