Installing XP SP2 won't recognize drive

I have an XP SP2 OS cd (legal) that I want to install to my laptop (check sig, XPS M1530).

I want to create a partition with XP on it. But I recently tried to install the OS onto the laptop, before doing the partition, and it said that it didn't recognize the hard drive.

Is my hard drive being SATA a problem for installing XP SP2?

Sounds like you will need to install the sata driver at the beginning of the installation. Look on the download page at dell for the driver.

you need to slipstream the drivers onto a windows XP CD. get nlite, get the drivers, google the instructions. gluck.
