Instant Message cellphones

is there any program out there that will let me use and instant messaging type program to send text messages back and fourth. the only way i can do it is with gmail and thats kinda a hastle. any help would be great.
 
I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do. Just basic text messages or something like an AIM client? Realize regardless, most don't have the ability to load new programs like that.
 
well my brother has a metro pcs phone. i text message him a lot. most people i can just use my aim instant messenger to send text messages to their phones. for some reason it doesn't work with metro pcs though, so i have to send email messages to his phone from gmail and its just a haste going into my email and checking it if im trying to have a conversation with him. so i just wanted to know if there was a program i could download on my computer that would kinda work like an instant messenger so i can stop going through and doing it with my email.
