Is there any advantage to using a CPU with integrated graphics alongside a GPU, or are integrated graphics pushed aside when a GPU is being used?

It depends on what GPU you couple it with. Any GPU from AMD lower then an HD7770 from the HD6xxx series and up will be able to crossfire with the iGPU. But I don't recommend it for the moment. Hybrid crossfire brings a lot of micro stutter, that's why I didn't test it in my review. I expect that AMD will be fixing it though...
