INTEL 3945 ABG driver doesnt update on Acer laptop

Hi so I have been trying to update my driver for the above wireless card but it just wont do it. The version on my laptop is 10.6.0.29 and the new driver from acer web site is 11.1.0.86. I tried updating from the device manager and it says the best driver is already installed. I run the exe that came with the driver files and still wont make a difference. I have a 32bit vista with pretty much all the updates.
