Well i have the T5500 but my friend has t3200 . T3200 has a faster clock @ 2.0GHz and the T5500 @ 1.667 GHz

Sooooooo the T3200 is better or T5500???

Question I am not a labtop owner but is yours a dual core and his a single core?

When comparing vs older processors its not as plain and simple as comparing clock speeds. The dual-core would be superior though without question.

The T3200 is faster, yes. Have a look over here: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/mid_range_cpus.html

They are both Dual Core CPUs. The T5500 is a Core2 CPU vs the T3200 (Pentium dual), but it is slower. The current Pentium Dual core CPUs share silicon heritage with the Core2 design but they are handicapped in other ways similar to how the Celeron CPUs had less L2 cache than the full-blown Pentiums.

I see thanks for the lesson Zatharus :)

No problem. :)

It is rather confusing what Intel is doing now unless you know their plans for the future (well...it still strikes me as odd). I started investigating a while back when they first started popping up. I thought it was strange to have new "Core" series parts labeled as "Pentiums." Basically, Intel is going to recycle the Pentium name for their low-powered/handicapped Core chips instead of coming up with a new one.
