is this a good proc in any way shape or form, is it safe to overclock? How would i overclock if possible.

And is my computer able to upgrade the proc? if so how do i find out.

It can be good depending on the task. For overclocking its nothing spectacular though

is it any good for gaming? or shoudl i get a new one? if i should, how do i know what kind of prc my comp can handle

Celerons generally arent gaming procs; they can game but dont expect anything spectaular :)

basicly budget proc. are not meant to be "Gaming" procs such as Celerons but as Praetor said it'll do the job. Basicly a 2.4ghz Celron will not perform as well as a Pentium4 2.4ghz.

You have to check to see if yiur motherboard is an Intel 478 socket or a LGA775 socket. Then you can narrow it down to the list of CPU you can choose from. I bought a Intel Pentium 4 Prescott a while back, it had 2.4 GHz, but I overclocked it to 3.0 GHz, and could even go a little higher, up to 3.2 GHz, but that would cause some serious heat issues for my CPU, which means that I would need some serious cooling. But if you are going for a gaming processor, get a Pentium 4 with at least 3.0 GHz.

I have a Celeron M at 1.3Ghz in my laptop. In the six days I've had it, I haven't ever been bothered by its speed. It's fine so far. The laptop play games slightly better than my desktop with a P4 at 2.8Ghz with HT.

my motherboard is model D845gerg3
Intel chipset i845ge
Intel southbridge 82801db (ich4)

So i tried looking on the net but i cannot find anything that tells me what proc i can upgrade too, nothing to tell me if i am gonna need cooling on this thing, be so much easier if i had someone to look at my comp...>.< Nothing seems to tell me if i can hold a new PSU and what kind.

Question: Can someone tell me what i can upgrade the proc too (will it need cooling if i upgrade the psu and vid card as well?..i think i have one fan)

Question: Can someone tell em if my motherboard is agp 2x, 4x, or 8x

Question: I have 768mb ram, a 64mb onboard vid card, and a 2.4ghz proc intel celeron. Which of these three do i need to upgrade to make games not so shakey, and decrease the loading times.

Thanks in advance, people here teach me so much :)

The RAM is fine, it is the videocard first, then the CPU. Find your Motherboard manual, if you don't have it, go to the companies official website, you should be able to get the info you need there.

1. Cant directly compare a PentiumM based architecture to a Pentium4HT architecture
2. Depends on the games you play; thread hungry games will still get killed on a non HT proc
3. Gaming is also dependent more so on components nowadays like the videocard and such :)

Heres info about the chipset

If I recall corectly, the max you can get for it is 3.06GHz NorthwoodB

It has onboard video

Tough one, a tie between gettiing a 5700LE PCI or more RAM...

If you want to oc, you need a good psu that supplies stable voltage.
a golden rule to remember about psu's are that you get what you pay for.
any psu under $50~60 is a bad one. so go toward $80~90 if you have enough money. personally, I'm not rich so i got a aspire 500 W for $50 but it is rock stable.
brand name is also important. If you had to choose between a 400W Forton and 550W Powmax, definitely go for Forton because that's a name brand. Btw, wattage over 400 is preferrable if you really want to oc.

Your CPU isn't all that bad. Ppl oc with Celeron, so not a big deal. But to get a good speed out of one of those, you'll need a good cooling. H2O if you're good at it(installing), air if not(good hsf needed)

About vid. card, 64 isn't that bad. lol, I use 32 that my friend gave me cuz I really do think that vid. cards are very expensive and unless you're into extreme gaming, 3D designing and stuff like that, you don't need that good of a vid. card. My aim right now is 128.

your ram is fine like everyone said.
