intel cpu

Hi
I'm thinking of building a pc mainly for video editing with the capability of running a flight sim & the occasional game, I want it to be as "future proof" as possible, ie motherboard etc.
I had been looking at the intel core 2 duo E6700 but now they've brought out an E6750 which is best ? (would a quad core cpu be better still) . Also could you advise me on a good DDR2 mobo & a GPU which will be capable of doing everything I would ask of it. A 22in widescreen monitor would be nice too, I think.
actually I'm after everything from keyboard & speakers up over & I've thought of going to someone like PC SPECIALIST to have it built for me as I'm a relative newbie.
My budget is £1400 tops.
Please help

No optical drive or OS but those are added on easily... with a 1400 quid budget you can get a really really nice machine like top of the line everything. could even look at a core 2 extreme.

Don't forget PSU as well.
I tends to order from ebuyer, I always find it cheaper.

OCZ (OCZ2P800LP2GK) 2Gb PC2-6400 DDR2-800 4-4-4-15 DFI Certified Platinum (Lifetime Warranty) £65
NEC Optiarc AD-7170S-0B 18x DVD±RW/DL/RAM Serial ATA Black - OEM £17
OCZ GameXStream 600W PSU - 120mm Fan SLI Ready ATX12v v2.2 £68

With £1400 budget, you may also considering soundcards and a decent set of speaker
