Intel Duo 2 e6750 2.66 VS core 2 quad q6600 2.44

Yeah. Clock speed difference is small.

Plus there is renewed indication that multi threading efficacy and scope is increasing. If the industry pulls out of the mud, a greater number of cores will become the obvious choice over clockspeed, high as it may be.

What would a good over clock be for this processor?

Make sure you have good cooling. My q6600 has been up to 3.11, but I don't have the cooler that I would like to have. For the time being, I'm sticking with 3.0ghz. 3.2 sounds doable. I'd try it if I had better cooling.
3.6-3.9 sounds like crazy overclocking. I'm not calling out Mark Allen, because I don't have one of those, but I'd like to know what voltage and what temperatures that is. That's a 1 ghz difference. I wish I could get that on my q6600.
Go with the quad core. 2x more threads, 2x the cache. ;)

Here's my E6750 @3.9 GHZ.And I'm running it with the stock heatsink/fan.

Wow 3.9Ghz that is impressive.. what are your temps? idle and full load.. just wondering :P i got a E6850 with stock cooling and arctic silver 5 @ stock clock speed.. just wondering if i could get that high :P
