hey guys. i am wondering which cpu is better: E8400 or the new denab cpu that amd is releasing soon.
Clock-for-clock the new 45nm Phenoms (Deneb) will outperform any Core2 CPUs, sometimes by a significant margin, and also are fairly overclockable
they're not far behind and the extra IPC count will make up for it).
I suggest getting either the E8400 or Q6600
If you can spend more money you could get Q9550 which should last you for a long time without the need to upgrade
Clock-for-clock the new 45nm Phenoms (Deneb) will outperform any Core2 CPUs, sometimes by a significant margin, and also are fairly overclockable (though they're not quite as good as 45nm Intels as far as OCing is concerned, they're not far behind and the extra IPC count will make up for it).
Please can you show us some reviews as a proof ? Or you are just making an assumption ?
The extra IPC is because of the increase in L3 cache that 45nm Phenom have. Yes, clock for clock, 45nm Phenom should be better than 65nm Phenom but that DOES NOT mean that it will be better than Yorkfield.
i think the new I7 cpus will kill the e8400 and current quads.
my next upgrade will probably be the I7 but not yet maybe next year or so.
i agree but i cant afford a 200 close to 300 dollar cpu + 300 plus motherboard and another 200 dollars for the 3 ddr3 ram....
Hack showed no proof but dude you didn't even answer the thread starters question you just said get the e8400 or the q6600. No where did I see it say should I buy the e8400 or the q6600. If I can read correctly it said "what's better the e8400 processor or the new deneb processors".. So in other words you're already assuming that the new deneb is slower than the e8400? Where's your proof?
Anyway, phantom, if I was you i'd wait to see what the reviews are on the new deneb processors are. At least it'd make sense that i'm making a strong assumption by saying the new deneb will obviously be more powerful than the e8400 because it's suppose to compete with the intel quads.. BTW, make sure you watch out for biased posters and reviewers.![]()
From several websites i've read they will be out in January here's one site and also another site with an idea of a review.thanks. when are the new denab processors coming out? and have you seen any reviews for them yet?
Well the extra L3 cache and other improvements are supposed to increase the clock-for-clock performance about 15%-20% over the current 65nm Phenoms, but the current Yorkfields don't beat the 65nm Phenoms by that large margin... mix that with a little common sense, and you've got your proof. The extra IPC is because of the increase in L3 cache that 45nm Phenom have. Yes, clock for clock, 45nm Phenom should be better than 65nm Phenom but that DOES NOT mean that it will be better than Yorkfield.
