Are these 256 MB? and do they share it with the system memory? How does this work? I googled but it's difficult to understand. Can anyone give in depth response about this card? Thanks

Yes its 256, and Yes, It shares the system memory.

how much is shared and how much is dedicated? when does it decide to share? how does it decide how much to share?

As far as I know it always uses 256meg of your system ram. dedicated is if it had its own video ram.
