hi im looking two upgrade two a core 2 duo/ or quad im looking two stay with intel but amd is alot cheaper so it seems and im told amd is beter for gaming is this true? i have a socket 775 micro atx intel can i just put a amd motherboard in my conputer will it have two be a certen socket? size?thanks

Intel cpu's typically are more powerful, but currently AMD has a better cpu for the price compared with just about any Core 2 CPU.
However, if your current mobo will support C2D/C2Q cpu's, you might as well go that route. Saves you the trouble of having to buy and install another mobo.

If you already have a socket 775 board then why not use that? For socket 775 you'll have to go with Intel and either the core 2 duo or core 2 quad as long as the board supports them. Ya sure amd is cheaper but you already have the motherboard for an intel processor. The micro just means its physically smaller and usually has less features but will still fit in either a micro atx or regular atx computer case

hi my motherboad will only support up two pentium d witch i curruntly have my mobo is a foxconn 945G7MA-8KS2H so will have two also upgrade my mobo

Just remember about memory - all i3/i5... will need DDR3, you have DDR2 now, and memory is expensive now, really. I would probably go with AMD route with your current DDR2 memory, many AM3 boards will need DDR3 RAM, but all AM2/AM2+ use DDR2 - so you can save a little here. And quad core AMD CPU's like X4 955 are great compared to similar priced Intel offerings.
