I know this is most likely a question which is asked every single day but which is the best fro general usage, as in gaming, web design, editing phots, internet and animation?

Which one of those would you do most often? .. either Pentium or athalon will do all those things well but both do have thier strengths. I'm a fan of the 64 bit chips by athlon myself but that might not necessarily be the answer for you.

I have both a athalon and p4. I find the p4 better for muti tasking etc.. but when it comes to gaming athalon hands down. Of course your system is only as strong as its weakest link.
