Intel Q6600 temperatures?

I have an Intel Q6600 with a thermalright ultra extreme 120 cooler installed (+ a 120mm fan).

It isn't overclocked. But the idle temperature is 52-53 degrees C.

Should I remove the heatsink, clear up the surfaces and put it all back together again?

Cheers

Definitely. You should re-apply some decent TIM, too. Make sure it's fixed down really well with decent pressure and the job should be a good'un. Good luck.

Do you have your CPU OC'ed at all?

Even so, that's a little hot. I'd remove your HSF, give it a good clean and re-apply your thermal compound. Make sure you don't put too much or too little on, just a thin across the middle of the CPU.

Nope, isn't overclocked at all.

I moved pretty recently, so I dare say there is a chance it could have moved the HSF/broken the bond with the thermal compound (OCZ thermal compound), especially with the size & weight of the cooler.

Just wanted to double check with people more in the know regarding the temperature :)

In all honesty I'm not sure.

Only installed the asus probe software after my computer started acting funny.

Will give it a bash and see how it goes :)
