Intel warranty question

if I buy a used core 2 duo, will it's warranty transfer to me? it is the retail version, so it should have whatever those come with.

No, it won't. But that's not something they enforce, really (or at least most companies don't).

Most warranties have a line about "the original buyer etc etc."

Second owner warranties are rare and are usually only on cars, which, in the company's best interest, isn't a good idea, esp. if the cars are unreliable.

Processors are electronics and since processor repair almost always means replacement, Intel's profits would dip if they have Intel processor second-owners who experience problems, esp if the processors are faulty.

Why buy a used processor? Would you buy a used water heater? A used transmission?

It actually turned out well. The guy I bought the processor (an e6550) from had an insane setup... like 30" monitor, quad core, 8800GT sli, watercooling, etc. pretty much the best of everything.

He had it all set up when I got there and he showed it was working properly. I am very happy with my purchase because I needed a processor asap so I could do some gaming over the weekend.
