Intel Xeon for gaming?

Hi guys,

Thinking about upgrading my CPU/Mobo/RAM on my rig. I was thinking about going with this.

Intel Xeon 1230 V2:

My buddy told me it's similar to an i7 @ 100$ less. Obviously it lacks integrated graphics, but are there any other downsides to it?

I WILL NOT be overclocking my rig. Also, people have said that it's nice to have integrated graphics in case your GPU fails, but if my GPU fails, I won't be using my rig seeing that it's used for gaming 95% of the time.

I know I can go for an i5, but I feel as this would be more future proof, and it just seems like such a great deal, and that's why I'm here. Is there a hitch to buying a server processor for an everyday computer?

Thanks for any input!!

Yeah the 1220 is more like an I5 3570 and 1230 is more like an I7 3770 because it has HT.

It's a good choice if you don't plan on overclocking, otherwise I would have just recommended the 3570k as for gaming you won't use HT anyway.

Yep. It's basically a similarly clocked i7 without integrated graphics, and doesn't OC. Fantastic CPU for the price, I have the exact same chip myself (though I don't use it for gaming).
