Interesting Tool

I found this tool just surfing the net and thought it had some interesting features.(http://secunia.com/software_inspector/ ) The program runs through your browser and inspects your software to see if it is up to date . I found that I was running an old version of Java which was unsecure. It also checks to see if your microsoft patches have been applied.
 
Let's see Apple Quicktime 7, Adobe Flash Player, Java runtime have all been updated. No errors found. At the moment it's running a check on the Vista drive since I am currently booted into XP. The full scan revealed that FireFox and Thunderbird need updating. But this is also the introduction to a subscribed online service with the free system scan performed there.
 
I just used the scan to see what it would find . I didn't want the subscription. Thought it was interesting though, I had no idea that my Java was out dated.
 
I had just updated java on Vista but not XP here. The second run saw it scan the Vista drive as well as the second sata I use for storing files here. But I would have to reboot into Vista to run it again to see what it finds there. The purpose of the free scan there is to show how the subscribed service works.

In Vista the tool reported an error in opening the Java Applet due to need to get the latest version. But the Java page confirmed the latest was on and installed correctly. Apparently the beta versions lacks something for Vista there.
