Evening everyone!
I'm currently having issues with my old (approx 5 years old) laptop, which is runing on Windows XP. Up until about 2 days ago, despite its age, it was still working fine, everything would load ok, internet still worked although not the quickest as its via a dongle, until it started having these freezing fits??
Sometimes it will work for about an hour after startup, sometimes 5 minutes, but eventually the computer slows right down, so that all i seem to be able to do is move the mouse key. I can click on icons, but only in around 30 second to 1 minute intervals, and then it takes over a minute for the action to occur. Once this has then happened the laptop slows so much I can't turn it off through shutdown, and have had to resort to holding the power button down, as simply closing the screen doesn't put it into a standby that will restart??
I have spybot and norton which have not mentioned detecting any virus, and although I know norton slows a comp significantly, it has been fine for years??
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!
