Internal backup

I just got a new computer with a new HD and i slapped on an OS on it. And so my old HD had all my stuff on it and i put it in the new computer but its saying i dont have permission to view the folders...is there anyway to get around this cuz i have very important stuff on there. It has an OS on it but i just need to backup the files i need and then erase it. The other computer it was on is just dead now.

so i take it you are runing vista. just right click the drive go to security and hit edit and give yourself full controle. see if that works

no problem. vista just has new security laws they dont really tell users bt after spending more hours on a computer then all the time in school and work combined you get every small detail
