internal card reader

hi,

I know it says it will connect to the USB header on my MB, but does this mean that i will lose the 2 side(front) mounted USB's that i have already plugged into the USB header on the MB???

It can plug into any USB header on the motherboard. So if you have an extra header you don't have to use the front panel headers. If you don't have any extra headers then yes you will lost a pair of USB ports.

what is a usb header? is it like pins? or an actual usb socket thing?

ok. So if my motherboard (asus a7/v8x) has another set of USB headers like in that image above, im guessing both will work ??

Yes if it has more than one set of USB headers both will work.
