internal to internal backup for 3 PCs

Hi,

I have a spare internal 160 gig hard drive and 3 Dell PCs. I'd like to hook that hard drive to each PC individually and take a full backup of each (was recently bit by a bad MS driver and I don't want to get automatic updates again until I have a clean backup). All PCs are running XP, two at SP2 and one at SP1.

Can this be done with the Windows backup or freeware, or must I purchase software?

Thanks,

You could easily create iso image consisting of the contents wished to be saved off of the 3 Dells. But this will also depend on the amount of files and data you are trying to preserve. If you are able to copy files into temp folders you could put the 160gb drive into a usb adapter and drag them onto it with Windows Explorer. You would need to the total size from all three Dells to see if the 160gb is large enough.

Windows has a backup utility in it that is quite effective. I have a client that is using it right now to back up his file server. We have already had to recover off of it and it did the trick.

That way you don't have to download anything or buy anything. No fuss, no muss.
