I am using a wireless adaptor to connect to the internet.

I am able to connect to the router and network but not the internet.

Does the persons PC who has the actual internet conenction have to be on or do I have to do something to my PC before I can access the internet?

so youre connecting to a wireless router, which is also wired to another computer? and that computer is connected to the internet?

if so, you need to plug your internet straight into the router, there is no need to run it through another computer! thats the main reason for the router! lol.

well I don't know the whole set-up just that I can connect to the wireless router (I have connection to the network) but my pc isn't connecting to the internet.

So what you've got is a router going through a modem into the wall socket? If you have cut out the modem as you don't need it.

To the original poster, and if it is indeed connected by a modem then the 'internet' will be between the modem and router.

Is the wireless network secured? If so do you have the WEP key you would need to enter to allowed said access to the interweb?
