Internet being a poo

Hi, can anybody help me?

I recently changed our ISP to AOL.

I can go on some internet sites but some just dont work eg. Hotmail, myspace and the like.

The computer connects through a wireless LAN, when I first got it it was connected by a wire and used the modem that came when we got AOL and worked fine.

(I dont know much about computers so I hope this is making sense.)

There are two computers on our LAN, the other being my brothers and his works fine.

Are there some settings which are not right or something?

Thanks, John

Hey, I had exactly the same problem...

Just so I fully understand, is yours the one without the modem which connects to you brothers and tries to go through that one?

The way I solved this, was uninstalling the network adapters, and then installing them again. So you uninstall each network adapter on each PC, and then reinstall the network card on the main PC with the modem, and once that has done, then install the network adapter on the other one.

To unistall it, right-click My Computer and go to properties. Then click the hardware tab, and then Device Manager. Select the network adapter, and uninstall the appropriate one.

Both have modems and connect I beleive, it wasn't me who set it all up.

Ahhh I think I get what you mean and what I need to do but Im still a bit stuck...

Theres two network adaptors:

-3com etherlink XL
-WLAN PCI

Which one?
And how do I install them again afterwards?

Thanks

I'm guessing the WLAN PCI one, seeming as you want to access the net through your Wireless LAN.

How did you install it last time? Was it with a CD? If so, do it with that, if not, when you go to your Device Manager, the adapter you uninstalled should have a little yellow question mark beside it. Right click, and press Install (or it's something along those lines).
