Internet being slowwwwwww

Allright, my net is starting to piss me off. hahaha. allright, heres the deal. I have DSL and my net is acting close to dial up! The only think i can think of that would cause it is something to do with my network. I changed my setting in about:config for firefox. helpppp :)

You dont have the modem plugged into the filter right? you say you've changed somthing with Fire Fox? have you tried IE to see if it where any faster? Have you reset your DSL modem? shut it off and let it be for about 30 seconds then turn it back on. Perhaps it's a hardware problem and a new modem is required.

Yeah, i had this problem too...it was my isp...they were downgrading the service for oneday to maintain server stuff....I checked on the service status....you don't by any chance use NTL? Cos that's who I am with...

Ok now I'm confused...everything works ok, but I'm wondering if I still did something wrong. I have DSL, and one phone line is connected to the back of my router, and the other end plugs into a filter that has two ports - DSL/HPN and Phone. It is plugged into the DSL/HPN which then hooks up to my 2nd phone line.

switch them so the filters are on the phones (that's why they give you more than 1 )

I'm just getting confused :) I believe I have it right though seeing that it works.

Same thing happened to me, except I'm on cable. In my case, it was because SP2 for XP closes many ports in your IP, for security reasons. If you have a good firewall/anti-virus, maybe you can do what I did to speed things up greatly.

Overwrite the TCPIP.sys file that blocks ports by...

http://trustyfiles.com/help-sw-xpsp2.php

At your own risk...

And get winsockfix program.

Also look at my other thread about net being super slow... Another poster suggested a program TCPIP something that configured my net for optimal(?) speed.

which then hooks up to my 2nd phone line
so your phone is on 1 line and the DSL is on the 2nd? Either way you seem to have a different filter than I'm used to seeing (possibly a Canadian vs American thing, I'm not sure)
