Internet Cafe issue

I have a problem, this summer I'm going to be taking a week-long trip to Florida, and my only access to the internet will be at a group of computers at the convention that I can use like a library system. Therein lies the problem, I play World of Warcraft regularly, and I would like to be able to play that week. Now, I can't load WoW on the computers there, so I was wondering if there was some way to run WoW off of an external hard drive. I'm guessing not since there have to be some registry entries, but maybe there's a portable version? My other idea was to load Windows on an external HD and load WoW on it, but I have no idea weather the BIOS on the computers will let me boot from and external HD. Is there some way to load a program on a floppy or Cd that will let me boot from external? Or any other ideas?

yes WOW loads off an external, my bro does it all the time.
He first installed to his desktop pc's C. he then copied everything installed in C to his external drive.
But am not sure where saved files are kept. Most games the save files are in "my documents" but i don't know about WOW. if you'll need t look for it and copy it to the same directory on the internet cafe pc.

hope it works ou for you !!!
btw, is that a Golem in your avatar ?

Hummm, your bro had installed WOW on his system so he has all the support
file installed on his HDD and loaded in windows,
so yea it would start from a external drive.
but as Lord Of The Ming said these systems are at a convention and will not have these files loaded, so no it will not work, im sure you can find a cyber cafe that has WoW installed most do but you will have to live with the UI mods they have installed and will prolly cost you 4 bucks per hour or better to play.

WoW saves its game settings such as sound and video and account info to
the WTF directory you could also copy the interface\addons folder and take your own UI mods with you.

I have an external HD that's big enough to hold both Windows and Wow, so i was thinking that i could use that to play, i just can't figure out how to get a computer to boot from my drive...

And yes, that is a golem, 100% stolen from the Order of the Stick forums...

loading both windows and WoW on a usb hard drive could work if the systems at the convention will boot to usb, most newer systems will boot to usb if you can get into the bios and set it up as the first boot device.

you can also see if the system has a hotkey to get to a boot device menu i have used this option when i was working for the government on IBM/Lenovo systems.

but i do see a issue you would have, your windows on your ext HD will have drivers and such installed for your system and may not be comaptable with the systems at the convention.

IMO i dont think it will work out :(

isn't it the same ? I don't have wow on my pc yet my bro comes with his external and plug it with my pc and just plays it. so im guessing the system at the convention is the same as my pc, no wow install . so just connect the external and run WOW

why do you need to load windows ?...im confused here !!!.if WOW is installed on your PC, just copy its directory from program files to your external drive.
thats what my bro did. he didn't load windows !!

I guess you could be right, im not sure if WoW installs any support file or DLL to the windows folder or adds anything to the registry that will be needed when the game is started.
give it a shot.
