Internet connection help

I was at university the other day and connected to the internet via their wireless system, changing the settings I have when I connect at home. I'm on the internet just now because the settings on the other profiles on the computer haven't been changed, but how would I be able to get back on using mine? Because the connection is on and everything it's saying I'm connected.

The answer's probably dead easy, I just don't know how to work this thing.

Probably got something to do with a proxy... i have to do the same for when i got to school, i have to take the disable the proxy settings under the internet properties.

That doesn't seem to have worked for me.

I use Virgin Media Broadband and am on MS XP. I am currently on my brother's profile on the same laptop-he didn't change his settings, so he can still access the internet. Because the modem, connection, etc, is working, it's stating I'm online I'm unable to get on the web.

In trying to change this I think I might have deleted the settings I already had. However, is it possible to somehow use the fact that everyone else is using the same connection to connect myself?
