So new computer is up and running and goin good but im concerned about a problem im running into with downloads. I signed up for the fastest DSL service Windstream offered yesterday and while I have noticed a HUGE difference in normal internet use, when I went to download CS:S this afternoon I ran into a roadblock. At first, it was downloading at about 30 Kb/s the it would jump up and do 350+ Kb/s for a while then back down to low numbers or my entire internet would disconnect! I was running Windows Live One Care and I tried turning the firewall off temporarily but its still doing the same thing. Any ideas what could be causing this?

is there any software for speeding up net ?

is there any softwares which can speed up the internet speed ?
more than the natural or any way for this ?

You can use a program such as TCPoptimizer to optimize your connection. The results are sporadic, some people see good results while others see little extra.

Are there any settings I need to change on my LAN card?

not really as the tcp/Ip pacther does the work or you can tweak IE and/or firefox.
open firefox and type "about:config" and do the following
double click : " network.http.pipelining" = set it to TRUE
double click : " ...pipelining.maxrequest" set value to "10"

for IE
Open regedit

go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
expand "SOFTWRARE"
then "MICROSOFT"
then "WINDOWS"
then "CURRENT VERSION"
and "INTERNET SETTINGS"

MaxConnectionsPer1_0server & MaxconnectionsPerserver indicates
the maximum no. of connections per page...

Increase the value (DECIMAL) from default to a higher value like "10"

thats what i used to do, but i don't see it working anymore these days

Im running Internet Explorer but my page loads are perfect. I should have mentioned what Im doing, Im trying to download Counter Strike: Source from the Steam downloader. One second it goes super fast 400+ Kb/s and then it goes super slow 12 Kb/s. How do I get a constant fast speed? Its slower more than its ever faster.
