Internet Connection Problems

I've been having trouble staying connected to the internet lately and I think its due to my router.
I lose connection for a few minutes at a time.
Usually it only happens once or twice a day, but the past couple of days I've been disconnecting more.
Resetting the router usually brings the connection back, but sometimes it just dies again.
I'm using a wired Linksys router (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124001)

Do you think it's the router or something else?
If it is the router what could be causing these frequent disconnections?
and what router would you suggest that is better than the one I already have?

(and for informational purposes i have a 6mb connection, ISP=Comcast)

too many variables could be faulty nic, faulty cables, faulty modem, faulty router,

Try to eliminate some variables any way you can... take the router out of the equation if you can, change some cables, replace a nic if you can, upgrade some drivers or firmware. Its a crappy problem ive seen it before and its annoying... in my case it was the persons cable modem, it was very finicky got a replacement and all was well. also seen the same problem and it was the routers fault... same problem though finicky..replaced it everyone smiling and downloading porn again.
