Internet download speed

I'm confused about my download speed. When i do a speed test it says i have a 12mb download speed but whenever i download a game or something it only ever downloads at 1.5mb. Why is it not downloading at 12mb like the speed test shows it can?

Bits vs bytes. There are 8 bits in a byte.

Circuit speeds are rated in bits, download speeds on your PC are rated in bytes.

12/8=1.5 MB/sec

Your internet connection is 280-336Mbps? Seems like an odd and large range.

d/l caps at 326 .. ranges 280-326

I dunno, guess we are talking about different things? I never understood the ISP rated package and what you really get either!
