Internet explorer problem

Ok for some reason. lately when ever I click on the internet explorer it takes like 10 second for it to open.
When it did open nothing will show ofr like 5 second beside the address bar.

I think it may have something todo with the virus so I am doing a scan with avg right now. I will post a Hijack this log later Hopefully the problem can be identified.

If not, is it possible to reinstall internet explorer?

I use firefox as my main internet broswer but I need the explorer sometime.

thanks allot

IE 7 will go right on since that's an update for IE 6 default in XP. You simply download the IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu-setup.exe file to a folder and then remove the present installation through the add/remove Windows components section.

For many things like Steam's Source engine you still have need for IE. Too much is geared around IE to begin with. That was the reason for the 1999 law suit brought by Netscape and others against MS for having IE integrated into the OS.

I will give that a try.

also there is another thing

I have the english version of he windows xp, but I want to use the chinese version so everything will show up in chinese.

Is there any type of addon that I can install to turn everything into chinese once the english version is installed?

Or better yet will my key for the xp work on the chinese version if I try to install it?

There is to much junk in the system and I want to wipe it all out.

Thanks

Generally MS has an optional language pack. But when going to download the installer check to see if you can see a language option for selecting Chinese instead of the default English version? Well apparently not as the screen shot here shows Hong Kong and several other countries but none for China. This is probably due to the numerous dialects. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx?wt_svl=10005WDHa1&mg_id=10005WDHb1

Not for Vista anyways as seen below. But for XP go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3385-447C-8A30-081805B2F90B&displaylang=en There are two choices for traditional and simplified when selecting the language option.

sorry I was not clear.

I tried the method and it didn't work. It must have something todo with the norton.

I had it but didn't use it so I tried to uninstall it. But I can not so I just delete the registry and stoped all the its processes and deleted the installed files in safe mode.

then IE problem starts. I found some trojien and worm with avg and deleted but didn't fix the problem.

I am going to do a fresh install of the xp and was wondering if there is a language pack for the xp so everyting will show up in chinese install english, since the xp i have is english version.

I found this on on the microsoft web but it does not contain chinesehttp://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/DrIntl/faqs/lipfaq.mspx#EWB

Is there another language interface in xp that is for chinese?

thanks for the help pc-eye

For a complete Chinese installation you would have to order direct from Microsoft. The language packs are generally seen on anything you download later. Those are for running programs and addons in a different lamguage or reading things in another language while online.

There are a few online guides for changing the regional settings to look over at the links here if those help any.

The second one here is for translation softwares including MS to look over. http://www.chinesesoftware.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl/page=home_main.htm/SID=PUT_SID_HERE

Another guide with screen shots could be a help is seen at http://seba.ulyssis.org/thesis/howto-winxp.php
