Internet explorer problems?

I use firefox 2 and have it set to the default browser but internet explorer still comes up once in a while displaying a site. I then deleted the program because I have no need for it but the application still opens with pop-ups and other sites

I have no idea why. Is there anyway of completing getting rid of internet explorer or stop this from happening?

Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. I am using Windows XP Professional (2003 edition I think).

Please advise thank you.

P.S. Internet explorer just randomly pops up now with a blank page.

There is a program files address in the address bar showing something in drive (C). Quite weird.

Any possibility you're hitting a shortcut key on your keyboard accidentally and it pops up? Ive never seen a problem like this before so i really have no idea.

external programs that launch the internet will force their links to be opened with internet explorer. theres no way around that.

if youre in a program, and click a link for, say, online help, up comes internet explorer.

its not a problem with your machine

Most of the time it comes up for no reason. I did not click another link
or hit a keyboard shortcut.

Anyways, how can I delete the program entirely? I just want to keep
firefox.

Thanks.

You received a malware for visiting a way out site. No antivirus can
remove it.

Download this freeware file manager:

www.freeCommander.com

Go to 'Program Files' folder.
Rename the folder 'Internet Explorer' to something else.
