The Windows Movie Maker apparently has the needed drivers inplace for sound while viewing videos online. To reinstall that along with any other Windows accessories you would go into the Control Panel and open the add/remove programs icon to look for the add/remove Windows components. You will need to have the installation disk available for this.

What are you using for sound onboard or a PCI card? You could check in the device manager to look for any yellow marks under the sound and game controller section if you are not hearing any sound while in Windows. One or more sound drivers could have been knocked when you removed movie maker. To get there you can right click on the MyComputer icon on the desktop or go to the system icon in the Control Panel. Sometimes the right click on the yellow marked device listing can get the drivers back in with the update drivers option.
