Internet Explorer stalls on 99%

Hi All

Since around April I downloaded the new Internet Explorer 8 (I think) and since then when I want to download something it gets to 99% and then stalls. I often have to open Firefox and start the download over again. I like using Internet Explorer more than Firefox (I know unbelievable isn´t it) but I don´t understand why it stalls.

Can anyone help?

That´s true but Firefox always asks for confirmation of certain pages and when I want to download from firefox it opens another screen but never closes it down and I can only save the file and not run it like IE. Also when I want to open a new tab in IE this is easily done but in Firefox I have to go to file and open new tab etc. It´s all quite long winded in Firefox but quicker in IE. However I am now using Google Chrome which seems to be a lot better :)
