Hi, my problem is that whenever i try to open internet explorer, my computer starts to run incredibly slow. so slow in fact, that i have to reboot it by switching it off at the mains. i feel that there isnt a problem with our connection as MSN Messenger, outlook express etc work. Its just that as soon as i try to load up IE, in the bar at the bottom it says "detecting proxy settings" then moves to "finding webpage, waiting for reply" etc etc but the screen stays blank and the computer pretty much freezes. I have run ad-aware and avg and this hasnt helped. does anyone have any ideas where i can go from here?

Thanks!

Ye tell more info. but here are some suggestions... try repairing the program, go to add and remove programs, internet explorer, add/remove, and choose repair. try useing a different web browser like firefox and see what it does, if that dosnt work it might be your connection. if it is your connection try going to network connections, right click the connection and go repair.

its a fairly new laptop. im not sure about ram. I tried firefox and it is working. I would like to try to repair internet explorer but it isnt in my add/remove program list. thats with the updates box ticked as well. any other ideas? your help is much appreciated.

To re-install IE, get your Windows disk, insert it, and a menu will pop up. Click around (can't remember what its called exactly) and you will be able to reload IE.
