Internet Explorer web pages backgrounds and forms don't load fully

Hi Everyone.
This problem is driving me insane. I am running internet explorer 6 (latest version) on my presario 905 with XP. When I try to view certian websites, I don't seem to get the whole page. I have plenty of memory and two 512 mb memory cards installed.

A simple example of this would be if you visit www.gmail.com, you will notice that there is some blue shading throughout the page. Well, with my laptop, I can't see that.

Also, there are sometimes issues with forms within webpages. The font within the form fields is unusually large. Some forms will miss the symbols if they have buttons (like Bold, Italic, etc). There are other issues too, but they are similar in nature.

Can someone please help me? I really need my laptop browser to work, as I work from home and need to take it with me often. Thank you so much!

1) Uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer?

2) Switch to another browser! Firefox and Opera are good, free alternatives. Not to mention more secure, and once you try tabbed browsing, you'll find out you can't live without it:D
