"Internet Gateway" win xp

Hi, I was trying to set up my printer and was messing around in Network Connections and I now have listed (in addition to my LAN and WLAN icons) an icon that says "internet connection" under the heading "internet gateway." If I disable it, I can't bring up web pages. What is this?

Internet gateway is your router or ISP provider address.

hmm..I don't think that's right in this case. It's some kind of networking sharing deal...I want to disable it, but am not sure it is safe to do so.

Sometimes when you setup a network with a router, you will see that. That means that you are sharing an internet connection from a router/switch.. No need to mess with it, its not hurting anything.
