Internet/Network Usage Monitor

Which is the best Internet/Network Usage Monitor?

I tried many but none of them have password
facility except NetWorx, anyone can reset/uninstall/close them,
so the data which they provide about network usage is not fully
trustworthy, that is why I am currently using NetWorx.
But I am still looking for better Internet/Network Usage Monitor having
following features:

1) Access restriction through password
(so only I can reset/uninstall/close the application. NetWorx has this feature)

2) Separate monitoring and separate totals of Internet traffic and
non-Internet(LAN, etc) traffic. Even in internet/non-internet
traffic, separate totals of all connections, in other words
monitoring of everything related to network but showing data
usage of every connection of Internet/non-Internet networks separately
(I connect to Internet (i)by broadband and (ii)by using my mobile as modem,
I need to know how much internet I used through broadband connection)

3) Disconnect and Block the connection immediately through which
data usage equals the limit set by me for that particular connection.

I guess no application has all these features but please suggest me
some good(free / not free) Internet/Network Usage Monitors you know.

I am looking for the same thing. I d/l'd Networx but it doesn't really do anything I wanted, not to mention confusing to set up.

I can't seem to find any function in that program where I can see all the computers on my LAN, I suspect it is just monitoring the usage on my machine, which is of no use to me.

Any of you guys tried net limiter that's what i use and it works for me.

So you can set bandwidth limits on different pc's on your network, or would everybody be limited by what you set? Like if one person is hogging most of the bandwidth streaming or downloading lots of stuff, could you cap their bandwidth but leave others on the network with a higher cap/limit?

Look at buying a managed switch? You can do all of that with a managed switch or a router that supports DD-WRT

You will have some leg work in learning how to use the product but it can probably do what you want it to.

No dice on that score, I have installed dd-wrt on my DIR-615 and its nice but have asked on their forums as well and was told to look into various programs, but they all do not allow you to see individual computers that are on your network or if they do, there is no way to put a limit on one that might be using too much.

Sure does get awful complicated that's for sure.

It is called QoS or quality of Service. You set it by the port on the switch/router, not by the computer. You can also set it by the application's port it uses to connect to the Internet with.

I guess I am not sure exactly of what you want. I mean if you want total control you might look at setting up a proxy server, like squid or something but that is going to require back end work on your part. Or look into buying a managed switch and learn the IOS of the switch.
