Internet problem on 1 computer

Last night I was surfing around on the internet when my computer crashed. This is fairly common probably happens about once a week no big deal. When it came back up the internet was down nad wouldn't work. This also happens quite frequently and usually fixes itself in the morning. This morning however, it wasn't fixed.
When I plug my computer up through either USB or ethernet I cannot connect to the internet on my main computer. However, when I plug my Xbox 360 and my other computer up directly through ethernet, they work fine. This leads me to think there is something wrong with my computer. I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this problem. Just FYI:

My main computer is a 2005 media center xp.
I have comcast high-speed internet.
Everything that has to do with internet is wired.
Normally my main computer hooks up through USB and then my other computer and xbox 360 hook up through a router via eithernet.
I use a linxys cable modem.

Thanks for any help

That is not at all normal behaviour for Windows XP. I've used Windows XP for several years and it has *never* crashed--not one single time, unlike previous versions of Windows, which crash quite often. Perhaps you have a virus or something.

Are you a microsoft advertiser or something? do you ever install programs? do you use the internet? install drivers? XP crashes. Maybe not really often, but it does.

As for the internet problem, did you make sure your ethernet adapter is enable in Device Manager?

No, I'm serious. Windows XP is rock solid. There must be a serious problem going on if it crashes, especially if it crashes fairly regularly.
