hey, just a quick question about my internet connection...
so i was watching a movie yesterday on hulu.com and it was available in high-res, so i clicked the 480p button and it went to high-res, only it couldent play it, obviosly the bitrate was to high for my connection, so i did some digging as to what the high res bitrate was, i found that it is about 1000 kbps. but i have a 1000kbps line...and whenever i do a speed test at speakeasy, i always get closer to about 1100kbps, so how come i cant stream the high res videos? is there a way to fix this without getting a faster connection?

any help at all will be greatly appreciated!!!

Im guessing you have to have an HD monitor!! What do you pay for that line (ISP)? 1100kbs is kinda slow!! Charter which is close to 5000kbs is only $40 or so a month! Go to speedtest.net and do a speed test and post the results of the upload and download speeds. You can copy the link of the pic when the test is done!

heres the link:

i only get 1100kbps or so becuase i live out in the sticks and cable/dsl is not an option, it was either have 1100 with sattilite or 28 with dial up, lol
i pay 69.99 a month, my ISP is wildblue

he has a sattelite connection, that's the reason for the high ping.
I don't have any experience with those kind of connections so don't ask me if you're paying a fair price.

About the video, your connection isn't the problem. If he can't stream it, your computer will buffer it and play it with pauzes the download a piece again. My guess would be your video card that can't handle the high res.

That is a horrible speed (especially the upload!), but since DSL and cable aren't options for you, theres really not much you can do about it.

No ping should be that high, satalite is the 2nd worst conenction you can get. Friend had one, and he couldnt game..
