Internet related question?

I am moving into a student house with my girlfriend next year. It's a 4 floor house and we have the entire top floor to ourselves. The problem for us is that they don't have wireless for our top section of the house, only for the downstairs floors. All we have is a fixed point where we could plug in a cable to connect our computer to the internet. What I want to know is, if I took my own router and plugged it into this point in the wall (20 mb virgin broadband btw) would this give us wireless upstairs?

This is quite important for both of us as we both need wireless to do work etc and of course there is my ps3 also. Any help would be much appreciated?

What you need all depends on what the cable that goes upstairs is connected to downstairs and how it's configured. Without knowing that it's hard to tell what you'll need.

i think it will give wireless connection but make sure that fixed gives live internet connection once your router is properly configure it will broadcast wireless internet signal.
